Explore cities and towns across America based on three factors: Climate(temperature), Average wages, Average home values, and a breakdown of income brackets from taxpayer data.
Usage: Desktop use only. Select a region of the USA to view a list of states and the average temperatures. If you hover over the temperature, you will obtain more temperature information. Select a state and the map on the right will populate the state with data. The map has a search tool so you can zoom into a state, town or city. The maps are color-coded based on wage data from the IRS. AGI data is presented in 6 income brackets when you hover over an area in the map. Filters below the map allow you to filter regions based on the value of the home index or the ratio of average wages to the home index value.
Data: Weather data was collected from the U.S. National Weather Service - NOW data - and averaged over 1981 to 2010. Wage and A.G.I. data was collected from 2018 IRS individual tax returns where individual and joint returns are co-mingled. Home value data comes from Zillow and represents the Zillow Home value index for a single family home as of 12/31/2020.
